Unilock Fence Installation: The Anaheim Owner’s Guide

Unilock fence installation in Anaheim typically runs $3,500-$9,000 for a complete vinyl or composite system, depending on linear footage, terrain, and whether we’re anchoring into existing hardscape or cutting new footings. Most Anaheim homeowners with a Unilock product call us after noticing leaning posts, gate sag, or panel separation where the interlocking tongue-and-groove joints have worked loose. We stock Unilock-compatible posts, rails, and hardware for same-day stabilization on most standard series.

Which Unilock Models This Applies To

Unilock’s fence line breaks into two series you’ll see in Anaheim: the U-Groove vinyl privacy system and the earlier tongue-and-groove composite panels that predate 2019. The U-Groove uses a 5-inch post with a 2.5-inch wall thickness and a rail clip system that differs from standard 2-inch industry posts. If your panel has a molded “Unilock” stamp inside the bottom rail, it’s U-Groove. The older composite series uses a thinner 4-inch post with through-bolted rails and a separate aluminum stiffener channel.

The compatibility gotcha in Anaheim’s older Platinum Triangle and Anaheim Hills installations: some 2016-2018 jobs used a transitional post that accepted both rail systems but cracked at the clip pocket because the wall thickness was tapered, not uniform. We carry both the OEM Unilock post and a beefier aftermarket equivalent with a consistent 2.5-inch wall that fits the U-Groove rail spacing. The aftermarket post costs about 15% less and carries the same wind-load rating for Anaheim’s Santa Ana exposure. We match to your existing rail color from Unilock’s current Sandstone, Granite, or Chestnut stock, or source from our cross-reference with Belgard and Techo-Bloc if the original shade is discontinued.

Signs Your Unilock Fence Installation Is Failing

Signs Your Unilock Fence Installation Is Failing
  • Gate drags or won’t latch. The aluminum stiffener inside the gate frame has bent at the hinge pocket, or the post itself has rotated in its footing. In Anaheim’s clay-heavy soil near the Santa Ana River basin, post footings heave in winter wet cycles and settle in summer dry spells, which twists the hinge geometry over two to three years.
  • Panel gaps or visible daylight between boards. The tongue-and-groove clips have fatigued, usually from thermal expansion in direct south-facing exposure. Unilock’s vinyl formulation handles heat well, but the clip geometry in pre-2020 panels was shallow, and Anaheim’s 100°F-plus August days cycle the material enough to pull the joint.
  • Post leans more than 2 inches at the top. Either the concrete footing has cracked from root intrusion or the post base has rotted where soil contact meets the vinyl shell. We see this where irrigation sprays hit the post base daily, which is common in Anaheim’s compact lot layouts.
  • Rail pops out of the post pocket. The internal rail lock tab has sheared off, often from wind load or from someone climbing the fence. The U-Groove system’s clip is molded into the rail end, so the whole rail section needs replacement, not just a clip.
  • Bottom rail bows or collects water. The rail’s internal aluminum insert has corroded from trapped moisture, or the weep holes are clogged with Anaheim’s fine alkaline dust. Once the insert swells, it splits the vinyl shell from the inside.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Scope Price Range
Single post replacement (footing, post, cap) $450-$850
Panel replacement (rails, boards, clips, one post if needed) $800-$1,600
Gate rebuild (frame, stiffener, hardware, one post) $1,200-$2,400
Complete Unilock fence installation, 100 linear ft. $3,500-$9,000

The spread on full installations comes down to three things: slope (leveling adds footing depth), access (narrow Anaheim side yards mean hand-digging instead of machine augering), and whether we’re removing an existing fence or starting fresh. Every quote is a flat written price with a written scope. Under Clause 1 of the Haven Standard, that price is delivered before anyone picks up a tool. If we hit unexpected concrete or a buried utility, the change order is signed before the work proceeds. That discipline is why our projects finish within a few percent of the number we agreed to.

The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the installation. If a post settles or a gate binds, we make it right. You also get a documented photo record of the footing depth, drainage bed, and finished grade, included as standard.

There’s safe checking, and then there’s the part that goes wrong fast. An owner can verify whether a gate is dragging from hinge wear versus post rotation by lifting the gate slightly and watching if the latch aligns. You can also clear weep holes with a thin wire and confirm whether water drains from the bottom rail.

What we don’t recommend: digging out a leaning post without locating underground utilities, or trying to reset a post in new concrete without accounting for Anaheim’s expansive clay soil, which requires a 12-inch gravel drainage bed minimum or the post will heave again within 18 months. The aluminum stiffener inside composite rails has sharp edges after cutting, and the U-Groove clip system requires a specific insertion angle that cracks if forced. We’ve replaced more DIY attempts than original failures in some Anaheim neighborhoods.
