Identification starts at the interior frame edge. Look for a stamped model prefix: CL for Classic, TH for Thermal, PL for ProLine. If the stamp is painted over, measure the glass thickness: Classic runs 1/4-inch single pane, Thermal runs 1-inch overall dual-pane, ProLine runs 5/8-inch laminated. Signs Your Mr-Glass Roofing Is Failing

• Whistling or air movement at the ridge or eave. The compression gasket has lost its memory and no longer fills the gap between glass and aluminum frame. In Anaheim’s dry heat, EPDM gaskets typically harden in 12-15 years, faster if the roof faces southwest with no tree cover.
• Water intrusion during wind-driven rain, but not in calm conditions. This points to seal failure at the capillary break, not a structural leak. The gasket is porous enough to pass water under pressure but not gravity-fed.

DIY or Call Us?

There’s a safe middle ground and a hard stopping point. An owner can inspect the gasket condition from inside with a flashlight, check the model stamp, and photograph any chalking or cracking for documentation. What we don’t recommend: attempting gasket insertion on Thermal Series without the proper tool, or lifting glass panels without suction cups rated for the weight. Tempered glass panels in the Classic Series run 35-50 pounds per sheet; Thermal Series panels hit 80-120 pounds. A dropped panel shatters into granules, and the custom lead time for replacement is typically 10-14 days. We’ve also seen homeowners force aftermarket gaskets into Classic Series frames, tearing the material and creating a leak path that wasn’t there before.
