The spread depends on three things: how much base needs recompaction, whether the original edge restraint is reusable, and paver availability. ES Windows paver colors have shifted over production runs, so a 2017 install may not match current stock exactly. We photograph the existing field, source the closest match, and show the customer before ordering. Under Clause 1 of the Haven Standard, the written price includes all material, labor, base prep, and disposal, with a signed change order required if we find unexpected subgrade damage once we lift the pavers. No surprises.

DIY or Call Us?

A homeowner can safely check the paver model number and photograph the failure pattern, which saves us time on the initial visit. What does not work as DIY: lifting more than a few pavers without knowing the base depth, or recompacting without a plate compactor and moisture control. The base under ES Windows spec is 4-6 inches of compacted Class II base rock; hand-tamping will not achieve 95% relative compaction, and the pavers will fail again within a year.

We do not recommend DIY edge restraint installation. The vinyl or aluminum restraint must be spiked at 8-inch centers into undisturbed soil or concrete, and the paver field must be restrained before bedding sand goes in. Sequence matters.
