DIY or Call Us?

There’s a safe middle ground here. An owner can check whether a post is loose by rocking it at ground level - any movement more than a quarter-inch means the footing has failed. You can also verify rail sag with a string line; more than three-quarters inch in an 8-foot span means the rail is relaxing and the bracket screws are working loose. What we don’t recommend is digging out and re-pouring concrete footings yourself.
