IKO Driveway & Pavers: The Anaheim Owner’s Guide

We stock and install IKO-compatible driveway and paver systems in Anaheim, with paver driveway installations typically running $7,000-$18,000 and concrete driveway work at $4,500-$12,000 depending on substrate condition and square footage. Most IKO paver consultations in Anaheim can be scheduled within 48 hours, and we carry common IKO edge restraints, bedding sand specs, and polymeric sand on our trucks. Homeowners usually discover an IKO driveway or paver issue when settling creates visible dips near the garage apron, or when edge restraints pull away from the bedding course after seasonal rain, leaving the field pattern to drift.

Which IKO Models This Applies To

IKO’s paver and driveway product lines are primarily distributed in Canada and select U.S. markets, so Anaheim homeowners with IKO-branded hardscape typically have one of three scenarios: imported IKO Perma-Pave concrete pavers from a prior owner’s installation, IKO-branded permeable pavers specified by a landscape architect, or a misidentified Belgard or Techo-Bloc system that was quoted alongside IKO roofing materials. To identify what you actually have, check the spacer bars on the paver edge, IKO pavers use a 3/16-inch proprietary spacer lug, and look for a manufacturing date stamp on the bedding layer, IKO paver production for the U.S. market was limited to 2012-2019.

OEM IKO paver replacements are increasingly difficult to source since IKO exited the U.S. paver market. We typically match with quality aftermarket equivalents from Belgard or Techo-Bloc, both of which we stock and warranty. The critical compatibility point is the 60mm versus 80mm paver thickness, mixing these in a repair creates a trip hazard and voids the interlock. Measure twice, say it once, show your work, that’s how we quote these jobs.

Signs Your IKO Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

Signs Your IKO Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
  • Depressions forming under vehicle paths. The bedding sand has washed out or compacted unevenly, often because the original installer used ASTM C-33 concrete sand instead of the sharper, angular ASTM C-144 masonry sand that locks under load. In Anaheim’s clay-heavy soils near the Santa Ana River basin, this happens faster when drainage was skipped.
  • Edge restraints bowing outward or separating from the field. Plastic PVC edging degrades in UV exposure, and IKO’s original steel edging systems from the 2012-2016 period were powder-coated, not galvanized, so they rust through at the stake points. Once the edge goes, the interlock fails within two rainy seasons.
  • White efflorescence blooming across the surface. Calcium hydroxide migrating from the concrete mix, this is cosmetic but indicates moisture is moving through the system instead of draining. In Anaheim’s occasional heavy winter rains, trapped water accelerates freeze-thaw damage even though hard freezes are rare.
  • Pavers rocking underfoot or sounding hollow when tapped. The bedding layer has eroded or the initial compaction was insufficient. We see this frequently on IKO installations where the base was compacted in lifts thicker than 8 inches, the standard calls for 6-inch lifts with a plate compactor.
  • Weeds or grass growing through joints. The polymeric sand has degraded or was never installed. IKO’s recommended joint sand was a kiln-dried product that required activation with a light water mist, too much water and it washes out, too little and it never sets.

Scope Anaheim Price Range What’s Included
Partial paver repair (up to 200 sq ft) $2,500-$6,000 Removal, base regrade, new bedding sand, replacement pavers, polymeric sand, compaction
Full paver driveway replacement $7,000-$18,000 Complete removal, base installation, bedding course, pavers, edging, joint sand, final compaction

Driveway sealing (maintenance) $250-$700 Power wash, crack fill, acrylic or solvent-based sealer application

The price range depends on three factors: how much of the base must be rebuilt, whether we can source matching pavers or must blend a new product, and access for our equipment. Under Clause 1 of the Haven Standard, you receive a written price before any work starts, every time. That quote includes the documented photo record of existing conditions, the flat installed price, and our 365-Day Done Right Promise. No change proceeds without a signed change order.

What you can safely check yourself: measure the affected area, photograph the paver pattern and any stamps or markings, and probe the base with a screwdriver to feel for soft spots. If the depression is less than a quarter-inch and isolated, sweeping fresh polymeric sand into joints and misting it per the manufacturer’s rate might buy you a season.

Where DIY goes wrong: lifting pavers without marking their pattern orientation, using play sand or all-purpose sand instead of ASTM C-144 bedding sand, and compacting without a plate compactor rented with the proper pad for pavers. The most expensive mistake we see in Anaheim is a homeowner adding new concrete pavers on top of a failed base, the weight accelerates settlement and doubles the eventual repair cost. For anything involving base excavation or edge restraint replacement, the labor and equipment cost is usually less than fixing a well-intentioned error.
