DITRA-DRAIN is designed for thin-set tile and permeable paver applications with vertical drainage channels; BEKOTEC is a thicker, polystyrene-based panel for mortar beds and heavy vehicle loads. We’ve found OEM Schluter edge strips (RONDEC, QUADEC, JOLLY) mate cleanly with factory membranes but can gap by 1/8″-3/16″ when paired with aftermarket equivalents. That gap admits water and defeats the system.

DIY or Call Us?

Where DIY goes wrong is in the substrate repair and re-compaction. Schluter membranes only perform when the base is flat within 1/4″ in 10 feet and the drainage slope holds.
