DIY or Call Us?

Beyond that, Moen valve work involves water shutoffs, often at the main if individual stops weren’t installed, and extraction of a cartridge that may be cemented in place by years of mineral buildup. We don’t recommend cartridge extraction as a first DIY project, the tool is specific, the torque is high, and a cracked valve body floods the wall cavity before you know it’s happening.

During an active addition or ADU, the sequencing matters more than the part itself. The plumber, framer, and inspector need to coordinate so the valve is set at correct depth for the finished wall, typically 1/16 inch to 1/8 inch proud of tile backer.
