DIY or Call Us?

There’s safe checking, and there’s the rest. An owner can verify the hinge code stamp, measure overlay, and confirm whether the issue is a loose mounting screw before calling. What goes wrong in DIY is usually torque: over-tightening a Euro screw into particleboard strips the hole, and the “fix” of a wall anchor or toothpick wedge fails within months. Drawer slides require two-handed leveling with the cabinet installed; without a helper or a cabinet jack, the rear bracket ends up carrying all the load and fails early.

We don’t recommend homeowners remove and replace their own cabinet hardware in an ADU or addition context because the sequencing matters. The door comes off, the hinge plate adjusts, the drawer box clears the face frame by a sixteenth, and all of it has to work together when you’re done. One misalignment cascades.
